Exercise 3 Part 1

1) The location I chose is the Nancy Thompson Library. There are many people doing work and on the computer, and some are drinking coffee from the Starbucks next door.

2) There are four individuals that stand out quite well. One of them is a older male, possibly a professor at Kean University. His bright red dress shirt makes him stand out as one of the more unique characters of this setting. The second one, a young girl, is running around the library wearing neon shoes that light up with every step. She has pigtails and is assumed to be the daughter of the older man previously described. The third person, an Asian woman who is sitting all alone in a booth on her computer, is drinking her mug that states "Keep Calm and Carry On" written across one side. Finally, the forth person, also a woman, most likely of Hispanic descent, is on her cell phone, despite being in the library. She is talking rather loud and is visibly annoying those who are attempting to study around her.

3) Some important sounds that are audible in the Nancy Thompson Library are people screaming into their cell phones, and awkward conversations that are being overheard. A couple walked into the library through the Starbucks and was loudly talking about their sex lives, as if the whole world needed to know. Another interesting sound that I overheard is the giggling of a girl sitting in the booth who is looking at cat pictures on her phone.

4) A couple minutes later, a 22 year old African American man walked into the library and tripped, dropping his coffee and spilling it all over the floor. He was visibly mad and started cursing very loudly. Although the Starbucks was no more than four feet away, he still refused to buy another drink out of anger and stormed out of the library.

5) The Nancy Thompson Library smelled like heavy cherry perfume. A woman walked past who obviously put enough on herself for six other people and it made the entire lobby smell strongly of cherry scents.
