~ Photographer Bio Assignment ~

The photographer that has inspired me the most is Jerry Uelsmann. Uelsmann, who is an American photographer born in Detroit, Michigan, is mostly known for his intuitive and psychedelic works. He is also known for his darkroom art, which includes very heavy darkness and contrast. Because of his vast variety of photos, Uelsmann has an archive of over hundred of photo negatives that he has captured over the years. I have always looked up to Jerry Uelsmann because of his idea that through photography he could exist outside of himself. He has been quoted that with photography he wants to "live in a world captured through the lens." Many of Uelsmann's works all have a very forward meaning behind them, showing every side to the spectrum of reality. In the following photo, which is my personal favorite, there are lips at the base of a dense forest, meaning that nature has it's own way of speaking to those around it. Photo Credit: Jerry Uelsmann

The prognosis of movement has been one of the most important ideals created in the entertainment industry, especially through film. Recently, in the newer forms of media, directors have incorporated movement through special effects such as those in the blockbuster 2012. Each individual form of moving, whether done by an actor, or by an object in the background, that was captured by the camera, has to integrate entrancing points that will draw in an audience that will never forget the scene they are watching.
